Hi, it is time to replace my wifes NHS salary sacrifice car and we have started getting quotes. I am finding the details provided unclear, there is a line for take home pay reduced by £xxx and a total estimated cost of £xxx. Surely the total estimated cost should be the same as the take home pay reduced by. Or am I completely misunderstanding it? I am expecting the higher amount to be how much less my wife ends up with each month, in which case its cheaper to buy directly.

On the surface that doesn't look very appealing. What's included in the pricing?

Its not that appealing at £540 a month but does include insurance, tyres and servicing.

The £135 monthly company car tax kills it. If we went full EV we wouldn't have to pay that. Skoda Enyaq is coming in under £400 but we don't really have a suitable place to charge it

You'd need a screw loose to pay that for a Dacia surely?

With the NHS she's likely on some kind of defined benefit pension (aka final salary), possibly one that takes a career average.

I mention it as some schemes take away the salary sacrifice amount before calculating pension contributions (essentially they reduce her pension because of it): You / She should consider this because if that's the case that shiny car costs a lot more than the sticker price.

I guess the important question is what is the loss to salary? Is the monthly take home reduced by £xxx misleading? Should it be the total estimated cost that the take home pay is reduced by?
