Uni student 18 to 21.
Full time.

Do they get ni contributions credited towards state pension?

If not, can they make voluntary contributions?

Thanks

No they don’t.
You get it for 6th form but not for going to Uni.

They can make voluntary contributions in the sense that they can buy years retrospectively later. But you don't need to have contributed every year, so provided they're consistently employed in later life, it probably doesn't matter.

Looking back at mine I got full NI during those years from doing summer work each year. I can’t have paid much in NI so was probably worth it compared to buying them back later!
