Low gdp growth and the stock market
Discussion
Over a longer period (decades) I would expect the stock market to be reasonably closely correlated to economic growth (which generally reflects increasing productivity). If that is the case what hopes do we have for the UK and other European stock markets as GDP growth in Europe seems to have stalled at least since 2008 with 1-2% being the norm (as opposed to 5-6% in China and elsewhere). Can markets grow despite a lack of economic growth?
