Section 75 (credit card) and Ebay purchases

For years I thought you could NOT make Section 75 claims for Ebay purchases. The reason being Ebay process credit card payments as an intermediary and Section 75 requires a direct transaction between purchaser and seller.

However, I've just rang my credit card company (Santander) and they seemed to imply they treat Ebay as any other merchant, so you can make Section 75 claims.

I just wondered if anyone here has experience with Ebay and S75?

I thought that only applied (or rather didn’t apply) if you paid via PayPal, rather than paying directly with your card.
