Strange transaction - money in

So checked my bank on the app this morning and was somewhat surprised to see a payment in for £158.60, not expected in anyway.
All it says is Bank credit EXPYMTE1 plus a reference number
Spoken with Nationwide today twice and they cannot tell me anymore apart from it is an HSBC payment, they are going to investigate further but say 8 / 10 days for answers.
Am I right to be worried is this a scam and do I now stand to lose everything or could it be a genuine mistake

Maybe wait to see if expense payment 2 turns up? I guess whoever it's supposed to be for will notice sooon enough.

About a year ago just over £5k landed into our Nationwide current account.
I called them and after a bit of checking they advised that I had sold a caravan to someone.
I advised I had never even owned a caravan.
A few days later the money was traced back to the person who sent it in error and it disappeared from our account.
For a moment I did think about not saying anything.

I did have an email three weeks ago saying final bill but no amount and I could not access it as my EE account number is now different so when I logged in it showed nothing.
At least I now know it is mine to spend
