Any Amex card holders started to experience issues with them lately.

I've just returned home after a few days away to receive a letter from them stating after a review of customers accounts I can longer draw cash on the card. Obviously I was furious so I called them at the weekend to be told that its a review they've done with a lot of customers.

I obviously asked if their was a problem with my credit rating to which they wouldn't give me a stright forward answer. I don't think I have any problems as don't owe anyone any money etc etc. They just kept saying I was a very good customer with a high monthly spend and have never been late with a payment, but wouldn't tell me why I can no loger draw cash on the card.

Anyone else experienced the same problem or know why.

I told them they either reverse the decision or I'll cancel the card and considering the high anual membership I think this is a joke.

I had the similiar issue - I told them to feck off and I switched to Morgan Stanley and have no problems with them ever since. They allow me to withdraw the cash smile

Why would you draw cash off a credit card anyway? I'm not familiar with Amex but all the other cards I have ever experienced charge through the nose for it. Take it from your bank account where it's free or if abroad fairly cheap.

I've not experienced anything with my Amex card, but I've never used it for cash (and never will!).

Possibly just a security thing, or looking to reduce lending overall - could be one of any number of reasons. I wouldn't take it personally, and unless you really need the cash element is hardly worth the hassle of cancelling, surely? Unless by some miracle you get interest free cash? By the way, out of interest what extras do you get for a card with an annual fee?

In short. Yes.

Amex have sent me a string of letters constantly increasing the % rate on my cards due to my payment history.

Been with them 15 years. Had one late payment last year when I forgot to make the payment in time.

If I use the card I always pay off the balance in 2-3 months (Card gets used for large purchases where I want the extra protection afforded)

They have just increased my rate to 27.5%

I have just closed the account.
