scammed using amazon and paypal, advice wanted
Discussion
long story cut short. saw a used PS3 advertised on amazon, contacted the seller and sale agreed, i paid him the money into his paypal account through paypal using my credit card.
2 weeks later no PS3, the seller never answers his mobile, constantly on answer phone, false address etc etc.
logged a dipsute with paypal and escalated it to a claim. Paypal have come back to me today saying they have decided the case in my favour but were not able to retrieve any funds from the sellers account. basically tuff.
Where do i stand, i cannot afford to loose the money. where do i stand with paypal and or my vreditcard company.
any advice appreciated. cheers

If no luck with Paypal you could ask your credit card company to do a chargeback.
If they agree a chargeback is valid (sounds like it is very valid) they will claw the moneyback from whom the money from the card was first paid to, so in this case I think that Paypal will sh*t out on the money - I bet thats when they will try and get the money back from the scammer.
Ring your credit card company and explain the situation, they can advise you on what info they need to start a chargeback.
I brought what seemed to be a new ecu for a Citroen, but turned out to be a secondhand unit from a van, their reconditioning was just giving the unit a clean. The company I brought it from basically said tough we have you money what yer going do. I spoke to my bank about a chargeback, and to cut a long story short - I followed their advice and in about a week, maybe less I had my moneyback.

I'm not 100%, but if it's like ebay, you'll not get any help from paypal as you sound to have completed the transaction 'outside' of amazon??
I haven't bought through this route before, but I've heard loads of stories such as this about amazon 'market place'. Basically, you're not dealing with amazon whatsoever, they're just an advertiser (like buying out of the local paper). You'll only get the protection by completing the transaction through amazon or ebay.
As has been said, try the credit card option, but I doubt you'll get anywhere as Paypal have done nothing wrong, so as the payment was made to them, the credit card company won't debit them.
Hope I'm wrong, but I think you've lost your money :-(
