The account is probably classed as dormant now, so you will have to go through their dormant accounts dept. which may take some time but you will eventually get the money.

It will be painful though as already said above their customer service is not very good these days

When you close the account they do nomally give you the book back but stamp it "closed" and you should see the final transaction taking the balance to zero
