A quick and easy way of making trade on the LSE?
Discussion
Which website is advisable to use for making a one-off (maybe two-off
) purchase of shares of a company on the LSE? I've never really dealt with finance/stocks/shares online before, so I'd like ease of use. I have no interest in complex long-term investment schemes or anything like that; I want to be able to buy shares in a company using my debit card, then sell them perhaps one, two or three weeks later.
I'm looking at something online as I'd like to be able to do it ASAP as soon as trading starts on Monday.
What do you recommend?

Barclays Stock brokers are a good trusted name. Don't know if you'll be able to start trading Monday though as you need to have funds in the brokerage account to be able to trade, and those take a few days to transfer from your account. Who do you bank with? Maybe they have something you can use.
I use iii.co.uk but I can't remember what their registration requirements were (it won't take a minute to register and try). With a registration you can load from a debit card and spend the funds immediately though.
If you purchase them through a stock ISA any gains will be tax-free. If you don't need the money back you can leave it in there and keep investing.

Ah thanks, incidentally I made an iii account before posting this but wasn't sure it was smart to just go with the first one I found, I'll look into setting up a second stage account for proper trading.
If I purchase them through a stock ISA are there any requirements on me having to leave the money in the iii account for x period of time or anything like that?
What are the drawbacks of the standard one vs the ISA one? I've no interest to continue trading after I've bought then sold what I want; this is very much an in-then-out venture.
Thanks in advance.
(I assume iii is Interactive Investment Investor or something like that, I think that's what I registered on).

Well, if I didn't think I did then I'd probably be wasting my time
I spoke to Barclays Stockbrokers today on setting up an account, turned out I'd probably need to send off some ID for verification, which'd mean I wouldn't be able to trade by first thing Monday. Though I've been given a reference number and told to call first thing Monday and it should be able to be arranged that I can purchase shares but they'll be held electronically by Barclays until I my ID gets verified to prove I can pay the trading fees.
Thanks for the recommendations.

Oh not at all. This isn't some risk-free sure fire thing, I just see it as giving a bit better odds than a bookie would but that's just my judgement. Which is why I said I think, I've no more information than others, sorry for the poor wording.
