Mortgage Advice?
Discussion
Hi, I am looking to get a mortgage soon and need some advice on what I need to qualify.
I am new to the UK and came from Australia in December. My wife is from here though and we need to get a house. We both don't have jobs yet but we need to know how long we need to be working in order to get one. I have heard 3 months but I have also heard straight away.
I do have a large sum as a deposit too. I am looking at buying a £200-250,000 place and I have at least £100,000 deposit for it.
I used to work for BMW in Australia selling cars. I am presuming with that job over here they would only take your base into consideration and then your comms after 3 months? Someone told me most lenders will only accept 60% of you comms too. Is that correct?
Basically I am asking because there is no point us both getting sales jobs now and have banks only counting the base of say £12-£15,000 each which gives us a combined income of £30,000 tops which is rubbish.
We would be better of just getting jobs that pay £20,000 each and get into a house (that should be enough to qualify for a £150,000 loan) straight away right?
Hope to hear from someone soon as I don't want to go back selling cars or the like just to find out I can't buy a house.
Cheers.
