Evening all,

6 years have passed since I was in some financial difficulty, resulting in me having a number of defaults on my credit file. All but two of these debts have been paid off, with regular monthly payments being made without fail. Am i right in thinking that even though there is still money to be paid on 2, due to it being 6 years old it should be possible to have the defaults removed from the debt?
How do I go about having these removed from my file? My girlfriend and I will be visiting a mortgage advisor in the near future, and this is going to be an obvious hindrance.

Thanks all

Matt

They should just "drop off" your credit file after 6 years - ie, your credit file shows only a 6 year history.

Yep - they drop off your credit file 6 years after the DATE OF DEFAULT so check your file and make sure your dates are correct. Even with a balance outstanding they will still go after 6 years.
