Our hotpoint Aquarius WF100 washign machine has stopped working - it won't power up at all. I have checked the obvious - fuse, power supply, and all is well. I have removed the PCB and there are no obvious signs of burnt components or anything untoward.

Anyone got any ideas as to the problem. I don't want to shell out £60 on a PCB to find its something else, as I can replace the machine (which is 7 yrs old) for £200 or so.

Have you searched for any thermal trips around the drum etc? We had a Hoover machine that would trip these and cut everything til they were reset? Have you got a meter to see where you do and don't have power?

Does the PCB have its own quick blow fuse?

No sign of any trips that I can see ( not pulled all panels off it yet. No sign of a circuit breaker or fuse on the PCB. No sign of burn out on the PCB. Googled it - nothing obvious other than 'door catch failure' which would cause it. Think i shall get the engineer out to it tomorrow.

I know Hotpoint are crap. but they do a pretty good call-out service. On our 8-10 year old cooker, it's £135 for the visit, incl. any parts that it needs.
