We're redesigning the spare bedroom and would like to install a double wall / sofa bed for occassional use as a guest room (right now it's the kids room). The idea is that when the bed is not in use it's out of the way and the area can be used by the kids to play etc.

Do any of you have anything like this installed? I'd like the bed to be reasonably heavy duty and comfortable enough to sleep on for guests.

Cheers!

At the grand design show last week, i saw a company that make beds which are built into the wall, which are on vertical runners with a counter balance. the entire bed, frame and all raise up into/onto the ceiling leaving all the underneath space clear and free.

I tried to find the name, but I can't right now frown

That sounds interesting. If you do remember the name please let me know.

I googled some of these types of sites as well. The problem with these products is not knowing how useful or durable they are, so i'm hoping some PHers have got similar installs and can give me real world feedback and tips on them.

Cheers
