A topic I know nothing about.

Looking for help on power output, noise, ease of use, where to buy. Any help gratefully received.

These are quite good, and have a decent output.

Avoid these like the plague. They are sold under several brands in many colours and they are all sh*t!

Totally depends on what you're going to need it for, how often it's going to be used, does it need to be portable or fixed installation, yadda yadda yadda.

What are you going to run on it? A power tool or some high tech electronics?
Some are sinewave, some are chopped signwave, some are squarewave! And some just dont give a st and not even 50hz with harmonics all over the place.

Those really cheap ones are two stroke and can be quite noisy (I have one as a standby) and yes, they are crap but it works for running two 300 watt flood lights. I would have took it camping but its way too noisy and a lot of campsites will not have them.

A honda suitcase one is nice and very quiet.

Yes, and the most expensive!
