Painting the garage
Discussion
Hey all moving in to a new build in 5 weeks so want to get the garage sorted while there is nothing in it so i want to paint the floors and walls etc and sort some shelving out etc
Obviously as I have just bought the place my budget is somewhere skirting around naff all and not a lot so can maybe scrape a few hundred to get it started.
whats the best stuff to paint the floor with and what about the walls ceiling ? also where is a good place to source shelving from ?
anything else i may need ?

I'm just doing the same job on my completed self build. I've bought some new white kitchen units from ebay - 1000mm + 300mm base units for floor, 1000mm wall unit, all with doors, £187 delivered. I've already got some worktop left over to use. Should look nice and tidy, and cost very little. Walls & ceiling, just regular white emulsion (watered down sealing coat first). As for the floor, I'm putting down rubber tiles. I've had painted floors before, and if you park your car with wet tyres, they have a habit of pulling up the paint when you drive out again after it's dried. Garage floor tiles again will be from ebay, around the £100 mark.
Looking at this sort of thing:

I got the idea for the kitchen units from this forum. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow, hopefully fit this weekend.

I've just done this myself, and very happy with the results. Will post pics when I get some spare time. Also, see reply to other thread recently: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Epoxy paint works very well. I've done a mates garage with it an 2 years down the line it looks good as new despite being quite heavily used.
Personally I just used a couple of pots on non slip garage floor paint from Screwfix, it's been fine for about 5 years now. I've got most of the garage Dynotiled but it's lethal for bikes with wet tyres hence leaving a bit of exposed paint for them.
For the walls use Sandtex masonry paint. Assuming the rafters are boarded out you should have no problems with dust.
