Hiding an oil tank

Has anyone had any experience with this?
We have an oil tank in quite a prominant position in the garden and would like to try and hide it/disguise it.
The options i've looked at so far are:
Trellis of some sort with a winding plant (Honey suckle etc)
A shed over the top of it - not ideal as there is a shed just next to it anyway
A picnic bench made around it.
I'm kinda leaning towards the picnic idea. It should be simple enough to put a table top on top of it and then put a set down the side.
So, any other ideas? Bring them on!!

You'd have a good view anyway 
I have just been out and mulled it over a bit. The picnic bench is a bad idea as there is quite a stench of oil coming from the vent which i guess i should have really thought about. Also SWMBO doesn't like the idea so it's a no go.
I was out on the bike tonight and was thinking...railways sleepers stepped up against it might look cool with various potted plants on it.
I'll get a picture up.
I have wooden fence panels around mine with concrete posts, one side of which I've set various plants growing up it. It looks nice. I'd think very carefully about the picnic idea - there is sometimes a general smell of oil around my tank. It doesn't seem too bad when it is hot (which is when you would use a picnic table) so maybe it is a goer.
Is there a safety issue with an over the tank table - you don't want someone lighting up near the tank etc..

This is true. The picnic idea was more to hide it and then use as an overflow as we have one on the decking. It'd mainly be used for parties and BBQ's. Is there a safety issue with an over the tank table - you don't want someone lighting up near the tank etc..
I'm going to look into railway sleepers or burying the bugger (as another poster said) but can imagine that would be a hell of a job!

Try painting it dark green, sort of dark Wimbledon Green is a good one. Ronseal or one of the fence paint companies do a shade that really blends in.
I've painted my shed dark green and it really "disappears".
You could also try a fence panel in front of it, again painted green would be best?

do you guys have really small tanks? our 1000l jobby is far too big to put a table on- and after a good few years of being filler and re-filled, now smells strongly of oil- certainly wouldn't want to put a table anywhere near it!
That's what I'm wondering - we have a 2500l tank and to bury it would take a JCB, and to cover it in decking or fence panels would require half an Amazonian rainforest!
