Id like to try and sound proof our airing cupboard as the shower pump is a little noisy and as we live in a terrace house it would be nice to not wake the neighbours up every morning! Any suggestions?

We had this in a hotel I worked at and it was remarkably simple to sort out. First thing is to make sure the pump is not screwed directly to the timbers. We installed some sound deadening foam under it first. The build a small house out of the same foam and fir it over the pump. Viola. I can't say we still could't hear it but it went from an annoying throng to a gentle hummmmmm. The foam under the pump made the biggest difference.

Sounds like a good idea, any idea where you got the foam from?

Mount the pump on a paving slab or a high density concrete block.

Could be a bit tricky as it's in an airing cupboard!
