Just a quick note to anyone currently building an extension and fitting a joisted floor.

Notch the joists before placing them in the hangers. If you don't the floor level will finish higher than the existing floor redface

And you will have to take all the floor boards off and redo the whole thing cry

Could you not just fix the joist hangers at the right height, then you won't need to notch the joists?

Unfortunately the height of the joist hangers was dictated by the course of bricks I had to set them in to frown

Ahh, in that case, you need apply what my mate always used to say to me.

hehe My first extension (30 square meters yikes). It's been a very STEEP learning curve.

Unlike the 12 degree pitch I've ended up with on the roof! That's really gonna be fun to put right (unless I cover it in corrugated iron).

That's your problem. You need to put the STEEP curve on the roof and then have a 12 degree learning pitch...
