I have a room which is 20ft x 8 ft, at one end is an exposed pitch roof with two velux windows, the other end has no natural light.

The flat ceiling runs for about 15 feet

I intended to put flush mounted downlights in the ceiling part.

Wanted to use bright White LEDs as I like the colour of them and want to save on the electricity bill plus don't like how often halogen bulbs fail.

Here is my dilemma, without fitting them I'm struggling to work out how many is enough / too much.

Originally I wanted to go for 12 to create a pattern on the ceiling with two switches to have some / all of them on but it's been suggested to me that any low power ones will not give enough light

The icage lights have been recommended, these take a 7w led bulb but cost £30 each and are 14.5cm in height which causes me issues where they can be fitted - using these I could get 6 in.

The other option is to go for ones similar to I saw in b&q and use 12 of them. Ok I know they're much lower output but given I'm doubling the number would they still reasonably light the room?

Any thoughts or advice gratefully received

Wot he said ˆˆˆˆˆˆ. Just installed some of E36Guy's Zep1 LED downlighters and they're ace, way way better than expected. We went for the 'warm white' colour and they are a much more pleasant light than the halogens they replaced.

Loads more will be on order very soon thumbup

Another shout for Guy. I should be on commission by now, but they are superb. Have them in my kitchen and en-suite
