Hi all, following on from my question retongue outaint pads, Can anyone recommend a tool to save having to use masking tape?

My hallway would need a huge amount of masking off and I just wondered if any of the gadgets advertised were any good.

And no, I won't be doing it with a loaded brush, I won't get a good enough finish!

Thanks!

I've used a paint pad for several jobs, and you get a very proffesional finish. (This is the paintpad with two wheels which run along the top).

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. I wasn't sure if they were any good, so thanks for that.

My hallway would probably take a day just to mask up!

Cheers

Buy Purdey brushes, really you'll not need masking tape.

One of the following....

Get the 450mm blade and just move it along as you paint

It's not the brushes that are the problem! I'm really only an average decorator and I know that using a brush won't be good enough, even if they were made from Unicorn hair...

They are all rubbish. Needing constant cleaning to avoid smudging etc. Unless you've got a bad dose of the shakes you will soon get the hang of painting without masking tape. Just take your time but be direct and wipe off any overpaint as you go.

I recently decorated a 3 bed house and I can highly recommend the Dulux Paint Pod system. It's a fantastic bit of kit and much quicker than using a normal roller. It comes with an edging brush which is the shape of a triangular prism but with the corner sliced off it, which gets right into the corners and edges meaning you don't need to do any masking.
