I want to put a TV antenna socket in a bedroom.

The room directly below already has one in the exact same place that I want to put one in the room above.

I'm pretty sure the cable runs directly down the cavity wall from the loft space where the antenna lives.

What is the best way for me to get a cable down to the bedroom through the cavity wall? I was thinking of drilling a hole to intercept the existing cable and using it a mole line to pull another cable down from the roof?

If you are lucky enough to get to the cable, a big if!!. Tape new COAX to the downstairs end. Pull that cable upstairs through the hole you have made. Then the loft to bedroom & bedroom to downstairs will all be there with no faffing around!

The cables will not be run in the cavity, they will most probably be clipped to the blockwork behind the dry lining.

It depends on the build of you your house it's easier if is stud wall but can still be done on dob and dab.You need to see the top of the plaster board in the loft,if its stud wall you drill through the top plate and thread the cable in with some chain attached to it then draw a magnet over the wall in the bedroom and draw the cable down the wall till-it exits the pre cut hole where the socket is going to go. Similar way with dob and dab find in the loft where the plaster board for the wall is and thread the cable in then draw the cable down the wall with magnet to the pre cut hole. Peruse YouTube for cable access loads of clips on it.

I should have said that it actually a partition wall between the neighbouring property in a house that is about 60 years old. The roof space has been converted so it easy to move around upstairs so I will see what is what.

floorboard of the first floor are likely to be in the way. Can you find another path going up through a cupboard or something like that?

As its a party wall thell be no space to run a cable unless you chase the wall. Is the tv going into a corner of The room?a trick I used to use when i was a sky installer was to drill a hole in the corner of the celing run the cable through it into the loft space then staple the cable into the corner then paint over afterwards.(this works best in bungalows and was a great generator of extra cash from the customer.) If it's in the middle of the wall then it's conduit/trim or chase the wall out. If it's in a wardrobe drill the the top of the wardrobe and run the cable that way. Don't forget if you go down the chasing of Walls to allow space for extra cables or leave draw strings ,skyplus needs two coax cables plus a phone line.

The TV is in the corner I want to fix the cable socket in to, but no wardrobe or anything like it in the room. It really needs to come through the wall if possible. The area in the roof space is accessible as the eves are still open if I climb inside the access area, this is also where the antenna lives.

Would photos help here? I am not in a massive hurry but want to do it right!

I assume it's a flat screen that's wall mounted. If so just drill into the corner of the celing and drop the cable to the back of the tv. The next thing is where's the power coming from. Posting some pics would be a great help. If you do chase the wall go in around 2.5 inches deep then put in 2inch waste pipe and plaster over. Im doing this in my study. I hate seeing cables on Walls.
