I've accepted an offer on my flat and have been living here on/off for about 10 months - do I have to do anything to nominate it as my primary residence to avoid CGT? I don't own another property but spend a lot of time at my girlfriends place!

Cheers,

Nope, simply by living there is fine assuming you were paying the bills and can show that.

Caveat, I assume you only owned the place for 10 months and haven't been using it as a BTL for the last 30 years?

I bought it in Jan 2010, rented it out until June 2010, gutted the place and refurbed, then moved in around 6 months ago - I've been paying council tax etc for the last 6 months. Will that suffice?

Last 3 years are tax free so you are fine.
