Hello, green fingered PHers.

On a little road trip to the far-flung northern Scotlands, my girlfriend spotted these plants and took a photo:



They appear to grow in small clumps, with the long flower stalk you can (sort of) see. Can you identify them?

Me too, looks a bit rediish in that picture but it could just be the colour balance and/or that particular plant.

You can buy them in a garden centre. My wife planted some and I've noticed that "volunteers" have come up in the lawn, and elsewhere where they've not been planted, so they self-seed readily.
