Another question I'm afraid - I'm laying a base for a new garage. I've laid down and compacted some MOT1 (sub-base), and covered in sand to protect the DPM. Trouble is I don't know if the sand should be compacted or left as is? After this dpm will go down then 100mm of concrete with rebar mesh.

Swift answer appreciated as the wacker plate goes back tomorrow!
Thanks you in advance!

You can whack it if you feel the need. It's not really necessary if you have whacked the scalps properly.
I assume you have only put a small covering of sand! 10mm max?

Thanks. Ended up running over it really quick in the end anyway, though the wacker plate ended up leaving trenches where it had been anyway. I'm sure given a couple of rain / dry cycles it'll all sort out anyway (not planning the pour till next weekend.

Sand was just enough to cover the chippings without being able to see it. Might put a little more down in a couple of places, but not too bothered.
