talk to me about floor sanding . . . . please!
Discussion
hired a couple of machines from a well-known Yeovil based hire-company (but from their Glastonbury Branch) on Friday - started them up on saturday - the drum sander disintegrated when it was started up and the edger's wheels fell-off FFS!!!
Managed to waste a whole weekend (so I had to spend sunday out on my bikes instead hehehehe) LOL.
Went back to the hire company who gave me 2 new screws and told me to drill/tap the new holes myself - he also said that they often do that - WTF didnt they tell me that on Friday when I said I need a reliable machine and not the SHONKEY one that someoene brought in and complained about whilst I was in there FFS - I told him that the screws were a completely different size - but he wouldnt have it - anyway - the machines are being picked up later and my money refunded in full w
kERS!!
Have now located a specialist hire company who ONLY do these machines and they are arriving for 24 hours - sometime later this week!
Apart from the obvious - nails/screws out etc etc - any tips to offer please - have 3 rooms and a landing to do in 1 day!

We did our living room and dining room, using old reclaimed boards in the dining room and new boards in the living room.
You will generate LOTS of dust. We taped up the doors and opened all the windows. We cut a bit of ply / mdf to fit into the window opening and then fitted an extractor fan into that. Tape up the doors into any other room.
It's very easy to let the edge sanders dig in, especially around radiator pipes. If you can, fit something to stop you sanding into any rad pipes that come up through the floor!
