I have what you could call a mature garden. I've lopped down alot of trees and bushes in the back garden to make it lower maintainance, removed an old green house, turned over the soil where I've removed the trees and bushes. Now the place is being overan with weeds. I don't have or like to commit alot of time to gardening so the plan is just to grass the area. Tried a few off the shelf weedkillers with limited sucess.

So what the best way of tackling this? I reckon I could get one of the lab techs at work to mix me up a lovely mixture and adopt a scorched earth policy but this probably isn't the best idea if it kills the soils grass growing potential. Skint at the moment so can't afford to go out and buy turf.

Any ideas/products?

Cheers

Black out! by that i mean a tarpalin or something with carpet on top but that has to stay there for at least 12 months! either that or flamethrower!!!

Of course you could go back to nature, you would be amazed at what wild things you could get in your garden!

I like the flamethrower idea...... strategic napalm drop also an option. Some sections I want to shilly so would have went with the carpet/membrane route for that.

In this case yes, because it (glyphosate) is total and non-residual, so ideal if you want to plant afterwards. But for best results do it properly and follow the instructions because one spray won't kill everything.

One year seeding, seven years weeding. The buggers stay dormant.
