What sort of thing should i be looking at for a set of cheapo bolt cutters?
Their only use will be to sit in the boot of a car in the possibility i ever get clamped.
(This is a pre-caution more than anything as i don't intend on parking anywhere i can get clamped, but would rather be safe than sorry!)

No, you don't want bolt cutters, thye'll be no use at all.

You need a man's tool.

Battery powered angle grinder.

Now THAT's what I mean.

You can even set yourself up as a sort of guardian angle oops I mean angel, releasing other people's clamps.

It's strange that if you're clamped and cut the clamp off, you can be sued for causing criminal damage. But of you cut a clamp off someone else's car you can't since the clamper doesn;t know who you are so can't take action against you.

I wondered how long it'd take for that reply.
It's more a case of being paranoid / i've never been clamped & i don't really intend to be clamped, or park anywhere i think i might, but if i am i want to make sure i have the means possible to get myself out of the situation, as i'm not paying £XXX release fee!
Unfortunately i don't have the £££ to be spending that amount on a battery operated grinder!
Hence the word "budget" in the OP.

Surely, aren't you going to be committing Criminal Damage if you do that?
Thats assuming, that you have transgressed the parking regulations for that location and that you have been clamped lawfully.
Do you take similar precautions for many other possible eventualities that you might encounter in life?

Wouldn't it be easier to just park where you're allowed and therefore not getting clamped?
