Water hot. Then not. Then hot again......
Discussion
I have a Potterton Promax HE boiler, together with a Gledhill Boilermate 2000, to provide hot water to the house. (Both installed as new when the house was built in 2004)
The g/f ran a bath this evening, and the water started to come out lovely and hot.
Then it went cold, and remained that way for a good half-a-bath's worth of water, before finally coming out hot again.
The only other hot water which had been run that day was one kitchen sink full for washing up - and that was in the morning.
The boiler is clearly firing up OK, and with the small amount of water drained much earlier in the day, I don't believe we'd run off all the hot water in starting to fill the bath.
Does anyone have any suggestions on possible causes for this?
I'm thinking a possible sticky pump on the Boilermate?

I had this a few months ago. My bro in law is a plumber came and fixed it. Apparently it was a blocked heat exhanger or something? basically there was no anti corrosion stuff in the system (thanks Bloor homes), and so the inside was corroding and clogging up.
Bro in law just basically washed and shook all the crap out then put it back.

One of the sensors has probably gone on the Boilermate.
There is an LCD display on the Circuit Board of the Boilermate with some push buttons.
If you cycle through using the buttons, it will give temperature readouts for the three sensors.
I can't remember the relevant symbols, but one is for the Store, one for the Plate Heat Exchanger and the third is for the domestic hot water temperature (I think).
You'll probably find that one of the readouts is "ER", meaning the sensor is duff.
They are a pain in the arse to work on, make sure you find a Heating Engineer that has experience of them!
ETA....
With regards to the pump, there are three of them. One pumps heat from the boiler to the boilermate. This pump will operate when the store sensor is calling for heat.
The second one pumps the stored primary hot water in the boilermate to the Plate Heat Exchanger to produce domestic hot water for the taps. This one will operate when the flow switch detects a hot tap being run.
The third one pumps heat from the boilermate around the rads. This one will operate when the heating is turned on at the timer, but will only run when the store sensor is reading above 60 degrees.
Some of this information may not be correct, this is my understanding of it from trying to fault find one myself!
Good luck!
