Hi,

My little boy is absolutely car mad. I'm redecorating his bedroom in a car theme.

I've ordered his bed:

And a tool chest chest of drawers and gas pump wardrobe.

Thinking along the line of shelves, could a car rear spoiler be used as shelving? Struggling to see how I can mount to a vertical wall as they are usually mounted at an angle on cars.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Screw it onto a normal shelf. Hey presto, two shelves in one.

Something like a big subaru one is "double-decker" if you get my meaning, has two shelves as such one above the other. That should mount ok with some normal shelf brackets underneath. They seemed quite flat from the ones I've seen.

Thanks both - good ideas.
I think I'll buy a cheapy one from Ebay to have a practice on first. Ideally I would of liked to use the existing spoiler mounts but will probably need to cut these off and use shelf brackets. Getting a decent finish rather than a bodged look may be tricky though!

Cheers.

cut through it vertically, as close to the leading edge as will create a decent size face you can bond to the wall. Doesn't matter that the 'legs' of the spoiler aren't sitting on anything - it'll still look like a spoiler.

Oooh - especially if it's mounted on a wall bearing a huge picture of the car the spoiler was originally from...

Thanks, I've managed to pick up 2 spoilers from a scrappy today, 1 from a Focus ST and 1 from a 306 GTI.
I'll have a play with the 306 one and see what I can come up with.

Like the idea of a full-size rear shot of a car and adding the spolier on the top. Could do it with my Focus ST!
Unfortunately he already has this on his wall http://www.amazon.co.uk/Walltastic-Racers-Wallpape... and would smother me in my sleep if I removed it!

I did ask the wife if we could have Focus ST wallpaper in our bedroom ....... didn't go down too well.

Ideally I'd have the picture of the rear end of a Lamborghini Countach I had on my bedroom wall as a kid. But, I'd have to buy a countach rear spoiler - doubt many scrappies in S.Wales have one of those!

Cheers
