Just bought a new Qualcast lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton engine.
The manual says I need to use Synthetic 5W-30 oil and says "Use a high quality detergent oil classified "For Service SF, SG, SH, SJ" or higher.".

I happen to have some Castrol Magnatec Synthetic 5W-30, which I assume is classified as higher than a 'service' grade.

Can I use it in the lawnmower?

Mine runs on Mobil 1 fully syntethic, as that is all I had when I changed he oil about 4 years ago. It's a bit smokey on startup, but has run fine.

Well, I did use it and it runs like a dream.

Good throttle response out of the corners too....
