...anyone interested in how this:

Became this:

The first shed I've built from scratch and I'm chuffed with how it's worked out.

No windows on purpose. Better security and more storage space (shelves) inside.

Looks great.. A proper shed. I looked at building one like this, but the costs were ridiculous. How much if you don't mind me asking?

I've spent just under £1000.

Thats all the timber, felt, screws, hinges etc and some cement. Bricks and agregate I had 'in stock' left over from the garage project.

The shed measures 8' x 12' on the floor area and is 7' tall (plus a bit at the front for the slope of the roof). It's pretty solid because it's double skinned with a 2" cavity.

The double doors are 5' wide altogether so that my trailer will roll straight in as if it's being parked in a little garage, and there'll still be room to get the mower etc past the trailer.

That's bloody brilliant, and much nicer than any prefab sheds you see from the likes of B+Q. Looks very solid - happy shedding smile

Unless you have fitted hinge bolts, perps can just unscrew the fixed plates of the door hinges and pull the door open ?

Any wooden shed like that would be relatively easy to break into, but not having a window means that scum may not bother taking the trouble to break in as they have no idea what is inside.

They would possibly go next door and look through the window of that shed and spot the expensive carbon fibre bicycles that are stored in it....

Similar to the first pic. Shows front and rear 'strip' foundations and where the 7 'pads' will be to support the base timbers at mid-width.

Base made up - taken from the back of our house.

The base is made of 6x4 tanalised timbers placed onto brickwork. At this point I made sure everything was PERFECTLY level to make life easier later.

Thanks. It is very solid. I looked at loads of pre-fab sheds, but for the money, none were particularly strong. I was also particular about the size I wanted, especially the doorway. Self build seemed the way forward.

Back-filled with some odd hard core (not that sort!) that was kicking around, just to get rid of it.

Used the off cuts of the 6x2 tanalised to add some strength into the base structure which measures exactly 96" x 144".
