Seriously, did I really just ask that?! I do need a kettle though, and I'm wondering whether it's worth splashing out, or just going for a standard kettle.
So far, I have seen two I like, for different reasons.
Kenwood Kettle - Just your average kettle - Kenwood (Which I guess is a good make for kettles?) - £18

Or something a bit more 'modern' (but perhaps too 'iPod Generation'?) - It would however go very well with our white Dirt Devil sat on the side - £50

I think it depends on what one wants from a kettle - how it looks or, how it performs. I recently felt like a change due to my Morphy Richards showing its age. Popped into Comet and picked up an Electrolux as it was being advertised at half price. Also because it had a 3kw element and should boil quicker than the 2kw of my old MR.
Having now used the new Electrolux a few times, it appears that it is actually slower to the boil (not by very much) than my old one. The reason, I assume, is because the MR has a larger base, thus more area of contact with the water. So, am now using more electricity to boil the same amount of water.
So, if its looks you are after, how about a Bugatti or if its performance, go for one of the old fashioned, large based kettles.

I really can't believe you asked this question. A kettle? FFS you need advice on buying a kettle? Out of interest where did you have your lobotomy? 'Cos I reckon they must have left a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of brain in there for you to ask such a question.
A kettel?
Can't think what's coming next. Should I have sex with my wife if the day's got a "y" in it? C'mon fella wise up a bit

I wouldn't recommend a Dualit, I've gone through 3 of those in 6 years, thankfully they have all bar the last one gone wrong during the warranty period.
Now have a Magimix and would recommend them.
I had read good reviews on the Magimix, but also saw mentioned that they're quite loud. What's your view? Now have a Magimix and would recommend them.
I think 911Motorsport has one that he picked up from a hotel - only slightly stained inside, and very cheap. I'd send him a PM if I were you.
We've had posh expensive and basic £30 kettles here and it makes little difference to the performance as our water in Hampshire is so chalky, in just two uses, the kettle is starting to fur up. So nowadays the missus chooses the funky, nice coloured ones over the see through ones with a light inside.
What I would say is go for one with the handle on the back. I find that the ones with the handle on top tend to give steam burns as you pour the water from them.

Have they improved since they were first introduced? Only I seem to remember that the water didn't actually reach boiling point which is essential for making tea. OK for coffee I suppose, but not tea.kettle
