Quick plumbing question
Discussion
Well, sort of plumbing. Will a hotpoint wma10 washing machine throw a fit (or 100litres of water) if it is only fed with cold water and its hot water intake is neither fed nor blocked up?
It only needs to get to 40 degrees, so a sole cold feed should be ok, no?
And an unused, unblocked, hot intake won't pour water all over the utility room?
Thanks.

The washing machine will work fine.
I'd probably use a 'Y' piece so that the incoming cold feeds both the hot and the cold. I've herd that some programs like the water to come in through the hot pipe and without it connected, some throw a hissy fit.
This would also make sure water wouldn't come back out of the hot supply, even though it shouldn't.

You will need a Y piece and feed cold water to both hot and cold feeds. I've had a hotpoint before and the instructions state it cannot be used without both inlets having a water connection.
There will be valves behind the feeds and the washer won't work if they don't both get water pressure behind them.
Incidentally my new Samsung washer has only cold feed so only needs one pipe. Good job too as the hot water takes ages to arrive in the kitchen and it wuld be full before it got remotely warm.
