Is the above correct?

I've never used one of these before and seems every women/man I've asked can't remember the simple question of hob ring theory of operation.

Just fitted a Sovereign cerammic electric hob, http://www.argosspares.co.uk/images/mediator/580/a... wired correctly using 6mm cooker cable to single cooker point direct to consumer unit with 32amp fuse.

This hob is second_hand & came with a Indesit fan oven for not a lot of cash.

When I switch on a ring the element underneath will glow red hot & eventually switch off, (I hear a relay or thermostat kicking in). Is this how these type of hobs work?

All 4 zones do this & all four warning lamps illuminate indicating that the individual ring zone are too hot too touch & switch off when the glass is cool.

I fried a couple of eggs on it, with the ring switching on/off many time when cooking; cooking time was similar if not better than gas, I use heavy steel frying pans.

Again any ceramic hob owners give any insight if this is correct operation or should the red glow stay on constantly whilst cooking.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease smile
I tried googling for "ceramic hob switching on & off when cooking" no results confirmed that they do indeed switch on/off when cooking.
