Planted buzy lizzies in some pots a couple of months back but due (I believe) to all the very heavy rain we've had in the south in the last couple of weeks, these are looking very sorry for themselves. Looking at them you'd have thought it was September and time to pull them up. Even though settled weather is forecast for the next week, I can't see them picking up their former glory so was thinking of digging them up and replace them with something that will see me through to end of September.

Are there any bedding plants that I can buy now to fit the bill.

Have a look at the roots (or lack of them) as the problem may be Vine weevils, the larvae feed on the roots and are like small whitish maggots. They are very partial to Bussies and have eaten most of mine.

There are problems with them this year, dying off,is there any white mildew on them.

Experts are unsure at the moment to what the cause is.

This time of the year you should be able to pick up some that have been left behind on the shelves at the garden centre for bargain prices. I'd just plant them closer than normal. My busy lizzies are ok, not as good as normal, Petunias on the other hand are forming small jungles wherever they are.
