I have lots of interior doors to fit, including a number of double doors. I'm fitting them into the existing frames, which are inevitably not square.

Any suggestions on a procedure? Any interesting and useful power tools I should invest in?

Thanks

Jason

You could get a small router and a hinges jig or just do it the old-fashined way using chisels.

A fine tooth circular saw, an electric planer are a must. A set of these are good for piloting the hinges accurately:

For planing the edges of the doors, make a couple of supports from 2 pieces of 4x2 notched out to take the door and a wedge to hold it in place.

If you have "lots" to hang and you've not done many before, it's far quicker and easier to get a carpenter in for a day.

I hung 6 doors at a flat I rent out last year used

hand chisels to notch out for the hinges and catches,
an electric plane as the existing openings were far from square so there was a fair bit to come off each door.
and a drill bit big enough to drill a single whole for the mortise.

not the easiest job but couldn't get anyone out in time for my tenets to move in, glade I did it myself as the only guy who quoted wanted £450 for 3 days work, which I did in 1 1/2 to an acceptable standard.

If the frames are not square, I'd also include A carpenters Framing Square.

If you have the old doors they can be a useful template, right down to hinge rebates and locks.
