Hi guys i have a area of the garden which i want to change from bedding and plants / bushes to lawn and just wanted to make sure, am i right in thinking i can just dig up some plants and bushes to extent my lawn ? once dug up is it just flattening the mud then laying the new turf over it.

Thanks

I've recently been through this.

Was mindful that I removed all roots from the larger bushes, before chucking down the new turf.

Then just prepped the soil for laying turf. To get a decent edge (if you don't have one already) I edged into my existing lawn by about an inch so I had a straight line to line new turf up against.

I did the same a couple of weeks ago. I would recommend that you check to see if you need to build up the depth of the area you are turfing with top soil to ensure the turf will be level with any existing lawn.
