Hi, I'm just after some advice, I bought a bedstead (frame) and am currently looking for a mattress. My question is....and it's probably a stupid one.....but can you use any mattress on any frame? i.e. bedstead or divan?

I've found a mattress online and it says that it's designed for a divan. It's a very good price and I'm going to try it out tomorrow, so I dont buy it without trying it. So, will it be ok on a bedstead?
Logically, I cant see why it wouldnt work, but just wanted to make sure as, obviously, PH is the fountain of all knowledge.

Cheers!

By bedstead do you mean a slatted base? I think with some open coil springs they can go between the slats, but the rest should be OK. Check because it might be a warranty issue - I had a 6-month row with Sleepmasters because they said the slats were 5mm too far apart...

If its a slatted base just place carpet over the slatted & no problems with the pocket springs going through the gaps in the slats.

Cheers gents, yes, that's right. It's a bed frame with slats, and the mattress is a 1000 pocket spring, with a memory foam topping. So do you think the two would work well together?

Or definitely buy memory foam, best nights sleep I've ever had have been on my memory foam mattress, and mine was a cheap one.

The "problem" with memory foam is that some of them seem to trap body heat inside and lead to people being too hot. I have never experienced this at all but have read about others doing so. I guess that is what Keyser was referring to!
