Having timber windows repaired

I need to have two timber windows repaired in my property.
One window is fairly large which incorporates 4 box section sash windows with 6 x 2 panes of glass each. The sill/cill has rotted on one side and this has spread to one of the side vertical pieces of wood, but has only gone up a couple of inches.
I effected a cheap repair last year but I think it is time to have it done professionally.
The other window is a medium sized (6 x 4 pane) window. Both side vertical pieces of wood have rotted about 2-3" from the base.
Neither window needs replacing and a repair will be much more cost effective.
I may also consider having all 4 sash box sections overhauled at the same time.
I've got 4 specialist sash window companies coming to quote in the coming weeks, but would like a very rough idea about what to expect to pay for the above works, plus general tidying up and repainting.
Any idea? I'm not expecting it to be cheap!

One option is to dig out the rot until you get to firm wood, treat with a good wood hardener/preservative, then build up with filler to the correct height/profile. Sand and paint.
I did this last year. It looks okay, but not a patch on the pro jobs that neighbours have had done.jet_noise said:

I've got 4 specialist companies coming to quote. Neighbours had their whole (large) house done over a period of about 3 weeks, including scaffolding, a cherry picker and so on. Cost won't be comparable really.ask the neighbours who they used?

I just was looking for a ball park figure so I don't collapse when I'm given the quotes
