I live in an apartment, and the kitchen, dining room and living room are open plan. The aperture between the kitchen and living/dining room is around 8 feet. How do i go about installing an internal wall with a door in it?

Google it, and there will be a thousands videos or step by step instructions on building stud wall dividers.

It is not difficult to do but you need to be careful about measuring and cutting precisely if you want it to look tidy and professional.

Thanks, would i need any planning permission or anything like that? Probably from the landlord/management company. I don't rent this place by the way, it is family owned.

If my tenant started building walls I'd be somewhat cheesed off if they hadn't asked first!

Like i said, it's my parents names on the deeds, so i'm not actually renting off a landlord as such, and i'm sure they'd be open to the suggestion.

So, ask the relevant persons before you start to build the wall. Anybody you think may object, parent, landlord, management company, whatever.

You'll need to contact building control, because amongst other things you'll be turning the kitchen into an inner room, ie you can only escape out of it though the adjacent room. So if you dropped a fag on the sofa and it went up in flames while you were in the kitchen deep frying your chip supper, you'd end up trapped with only the window as escape (assuming you had one and you's not on the 3rd floor!)
