Damaged house bricks
Discussion
Hi all i have recently had cavity wall insulation done, i`m sure it will be great in the winter months, however the guys who did it have somehow managed to damage bricks on every hole they drilled, ie the left bottom corner, the right bottom corner and the centre of the brick underneath, so a lot of bricks, it looks to me as though the drill bit they used was to big.
I have had the area managed round and has admitted liability and has agreed it looks like a bad job done.
The company have experimented repairing the damaged brickwork, i`m not to sure if i`m 100% happy with it as its still visible to me where they repaired them, they will willingly change the damaged bricks in question,i know you can still get the bricks for my house, i know the existing bricks have weathered, but you can see slightly different shades in the brickwork anyway, obviously from different batches when building the house, its also quite a lot of bricks to replace, is it worth it or should i just let them repair them all? i`m totally undecided at the moment, any advice from you guys, what would you do?

The other problem is getting the pointing to match in well. To replace with new bricks is no problem and if they are still available its even better. Just the joints.
Best bet would be to mix a test mortar and leave it for a couple of days and then see what it looks like.
Every mix will be different as theres different sand colours and cement colours even thought the name would be portland cement and building sand.
Good luck/
