Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an issue with grey gaskets in double glazing degrading in UV light compared to black. I am about to order white windows and the grey looks so much better but someone has mentioned at another provider that there is a proble with "white" gaskets degrading in a few years.

Thank you very much,

Simon

Not heard of this, but the 'life' of a unit is only expected to be about 10 years anyway. Also the bands should be rubber wrapped on the exterior joint to allow a little flexing.

Personally I like silver bands on white windows

I can't comment on durability as we've only had them installed 2 years but the company we used to fit our new windows specified 'super spacer' gaskets. Details here: www.superspacer.co.uk/superspacer.asp

The OP must be confused with the above two comments!! One mentioned 'bands', and the other, 'super spacers'.

The question was about gaskets........rolleyes

Grey gaskets are just fine. They will not degrade any worse than black or white gaskets.

Thank you.

I went and looked at the windows (duration) and they do one with nearly hidden gaskets on the outside and so I am going for those in black with black spacebar.

Thanks again,

Simon
