easiest way of removing paint from surfaces, wood and metal.

I am doing some refurb on an old(ish) property. Wooden window frames. some metal work (security bars). the paint is a mixture of silk/eggshell and gloss. the paint is in little nooks, crannies and corners.

Is there a 'magic bullet' product that I can just cover 'everything' in and make it all just fall/peel of? (I don't want to burn it off)

Problem is, is that paint is pretty nasty - chemicals and sticking to things, and the removers are worse. Try Nitromors?

be careful you haven't got lead based paint.

nitromors is ok, but takes a lot if you want to get to bare surface. Heat gun is better, but you aren't keen.

Heat gun. Not that bad a job.

If the paint is old and tough you can try this sort of thing:


keep it moving, you will gouge wood with it reasonably easy, will do the metal a treat though.

wear a face mask if theres any danger of lead paint
