Can anyone advice what the 'going rate' is for skip hire these days as I haven't hired one in 10+ years
I need one to put a dismantled plastic conservatory in and other general waste, ideally hiring for a weekend.

Remember any metal you have would be better taken straight to a scrap merchant - if it's separated out you'll get a about 10p per kilo for steel, and more for other metals.

Round here it's roughly £150 for an 8 cubic yard skip.

Bear in mind UPVC has a scrap value. Also yours may be re-inforced with aluminium. You may have somebody local that will take it off you for nothing.

With all these evictions about to take place, best hang on to it for a while as these ex-tenants are going to need a cheapish abode.

Bear in mind that plasterboard can no longer go in a general waste skip.

I got a 10 for £140 or so I think, and that was to keep it for six weeks as well to ensure I could sort out the rooms as needed. Just call a couple and negotiate (they will IME as well, an 8 for the price of a 6 etc)...

just had a 4 cubic yard skip for this weekend, cost £95 cash. A 6cubic yard one was £125 cash. In the lincs area.

Not to sure on the legals about having one on the public road as I think we should have paid extra for a licence or something but got away with it due to some underhandery throu my missus' work.

6 yd is c£170 in Hampshire - that was for as long as I needed it. They would take plasterboard but ONLY if it was separately bagged from the rest of the detritus in the skip.
