Garage Doors

Hi, I have recently moved into my new house and have a nice, much longed for double garage. The 2 garage doors are "wood effect" with dark plastic windows at the top. They look like they have been rubbed down at some point ready to be repainted. I am sure they are plastic (could they be fibreglass?) would love to repaint them but am unsure as to which product to use> Would normal varnish be ok?

I'm no expert (but this will bump your question) but if it is plastic then an organic solvent-based product could partly dissolve the surface - why not try your chosen finish on an inconspicuous part of the door?
