I've got a veneer bookcase that I like, however it's a dark veneer and I want to paint it white.

I had "every surface primer" recommended to me, but it only seems available online - is there a credible alternative to it that I can get from Homebase, B&Q or Screwfix?

I'd go over it with fine sandpaper to kill the shine and provide a key, then paint with white (oil-based) undercoat and white (oil-based) gloss.

Hmmm, for some reason it doesn't want to work with that address so, have amended it to the previous page. Just fill in the boxes.

Thanks - Can't find anything - perhaps I'm being a 'hard this morning!

Any more suggestions?
