Domestic security doors - front and rear

I would like to upgrade the security of the entrance doors in our house as the first phase of a general "hardening" of the house's security. This is a new topic to me so I would like to benefit from others' experience if possible.

i) Are there suppliers and/or brands of door which are worth considering and, likewise, to be avoided? I've been reviewing the results of Google searches but it's quite difficult to discriminate between providers.

ii) We have one front door, two back doors and one sliding garden door - what would a sensible budget be for replacing these with higher security versions? Current doors are contemporary wood with inset panels and toughened glass.

iii) What are the best respected standards to look out for when comparing products?

What sort of attack are you wanting to protect against?

Are you trying to defend yourself against a pre-meditated attack, or to deter opportunist thieves?

If it's the former; then you need specialist advice, looking at the whole property and provision of early warning.

Just opportunist thieves. There is no specific threat as such. However, I would still like to feel that the doors would withstand a reasonable amount of abuse.
