Hi,

I currently use a Bissell carpet cleaner and use it regularly enough to warrant investigating sourcing an alternative to the very expensive cleaning formula you can buy from Bissell themselves, which is approximately £25 for a 1.5 litre bottle at retail prices.

Would anyone know of a chemical company that I could approach who would be able to sell me a cleaning solution is larger quantities ie 25 or 50 litre drums?

Just thinking out loud at the moment, but there must be a way to keep the cost down...

We use 5L containers of Mr Muscle or similar degreaser, £8 from our local cash and carry. To stop foaming in the collector tank just add a couple of capfulls of white vinegar(£3 for 5L). This saves loads of cash as Mr muscle is far more concentrated, you need to experiment with amounts.

Rug Doctor stuff is less expensive than that and has the advantage of being stocked at loads of DIY sheds and Dry cleaners that rent the machines out ...

The problem that I have is that my machine has a separate bottle for the formula and then basically mixes it as required. How would I go about determining the strength of the concentrated stuff to go into this formula bottle?

Alternatively, I could just make up the final mix ratio and whack that in the water container and the formula bottle. Net result is the ratio does not change. The machine is clever enough to stop working when the formula tank is empty.

Thanks for the input smile

Stardrops. Much cheaper than Bissell's own stuff and you don't need to use as much of it.
