Reconditioning and re-plating taps
Discussion
Some months ago on one of those house restoration programmes I saw them get some bath taps reconditioned and re-plated. Having just completely re-fitted our family bathroom I am now gearing up to re-fit our en-suite. I like the current taps but want to get them re-plated in a dark nickel colour to match a designer "coil spring" radiator which I fitted some years ago (my wife hates it because it's impractical but I like it
)
While I search on Google I wondered if anyone knows off hand of any companies that do this?

These might be able to help, or tell you who could;

Not many chrome plating places around now as many have been killed off by H&S regs.
I recently needed some parts rechromed for my boat and used http://www.ibedfordshire.co.uk/profile/294512/Arle...
Very good; worth a call/quote.
ETA: Nickel plating may be easier to find, not sure.

Yep. Until a couple of years ago there was a place on the local industrial estate that did it - but no more. There's no-one in East Anglia that I could find; Bedford was the nearest!
Chrome plating uses particularly nasty chemicals and many companies simply couldn't meet, or afford to meet, new regs. Good old EU, keeping us alive but bored so we can pay tax for longer.

I believe they nickel plate first, then chrome on top, with there being two types of chrome plating, wired and dipped.I recently needed some parts rechromed for my boat and used http://www.ibedfordshire.co.uk/profile/294512/Arle...
