looking for a dimmer for a standard lamp

Chaps, I bought a matching table lamp and standard lamp where the table has a dimmer control in-line with the power cord but the standard lamp doesn't. I want to fit a dimmer control in the cord of the standard lamp. I know I can get a plug in one but I want something I can wire in-line. I've seen some US ones on eBay but they will only be suitable for lesser voltages so can anyone recommend what I need? Thanks...
